The holistic dentistry does not consider teeth and jaws as an isolated masticatory organ, but to view them as a part of the whole person, with all possible interactions. Special methods (e.g., electro-acupuncture according to Voll), foci and interferences can be diagnosed and the materials checked for their compatibility.
A specialty is the holistic orthodontics. This goes back to Prof. Balters, who realized that by treating malocclusions and bite anomalies many diseases of the ear, nose and throat area, and even poor posture can be improved spectacularly. He developed a special apparatus, the “Bionator”, which through the use of physiological forces, achieves a durable therapeutic effect.
